Choctaw Utilities, Inc. was established in 1964 by Robert and Arthur Wuellner, owners of Wuellner & Theado Plumbing. It’s purpose was – and still is – to provide potable water to the Choctaw Lake community.
Originally, the water company was operated by Ross Kuhner, who also ran the Choctaw Marina and the Arrowhead, which, which were also owned by the Wuellners.
In 1984, the Wuellners made a proposal to the CLPOA for the association to purchase Choctaw Utilities, Inc. The proposal was accepted and the deal was closed in May 1985. The CLPOA bought the water company for approximately $320,000. The purchase was financed by the Wuellners at approximately 8%, until May 1995 at which point the note was paid in full. CLPOA has since owned this asset free and clear of any debt.
Jim Moran is the current licensed Choctaw Utilities manager, and has operated the facility since 1975. He has operated the plant under both owners and brings a wealth of information and experience to his job.
